Theoretical Challenges in Wave Turbulence

Overview

The aim of the first meeting of the UK Fluids Network sponsored Special Interest Group (SIG) in Wave Turbulence is to outline the major challenges and obstacles to applying the wave turbulence paradigm to turbulence problems that include coherent structures and strong nonlinearities. Through talks and designated "round-table" discussions, the objective of this meeting is to:

  • Begin to forge a coherent UK-wide wave turbulence network
  • Outline problems, challenges, and obstacles that could be overcome with new developments in the wave turbulence approach
  • Discuss possible new or existing strategies for extending wave turbulence theory to strong nonlinearities and/or incorporation of coherent structures.
